DEPARTMENT RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS
Research Area 1
My current research focuses on Identification biomarkers in hypertension disorders in
Pregnancy. Hypertension is the most common medical problem encountered during
pregnancy, and it is complicating 5–10% of pregnancies. Gestational hypertension (GH),
preeclampsia (PE), and eclampsia are spectrum of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy
(HDP). Northeast region of India is a home to numerous and diverse ethnic communities, each
with its own unique socio-cultural characteristics and over 80% of the population live in the
rural areas. Assam is counted form more maternal deaths as compared to the other parts of
India. However, HDP diseases pathologies are not understood completely. Our research
group is using omics approaches like miRNA sequencing and circulatory metabolites to
understand the disease pathogenies and progression of hypertension disorders in pregnancy.
mRNAs and targeted disease interaction in Pregnancy induced hypertension.
