Biopharmaceuticals are the most advanced and elegant outcome of modern biotechnological research in the 21st century. The Biotherapeutics are incredibly complex in their 3-D structure and work amazingly well, providing great efficacy with fewer side effects. Biopharmaceuticals will be the core of the pharmaceutical industry in the years to come.

We are witnessing the pharmaceuticals industry’s transformation from humble small molecules like aspirin consisting of 21 atoms to therapeutic Antibodies which contain at least 25,000 atoms. With fewer atoms, synthesizing the small molecule is highly affordable and less complex at an industry scale. On the other hand, elegant protein structures cannot be made by conventional chemical synthesis and required recombinant “living machines” called genetically modified cells/microbes with highly sophisticated laboratories and vast knowledge.

As biopharma moves from the scientific frontier to the business mainstream, NIPER-Guwahati is entrusted to generate quality manpower to meet the industry demands. We are committed to giving training to the students with the highly advanced and sophisticated facilities required for Biopharmaceuticals research. NIPER- Guwahati established a world-class Cell Culture facility, Animal house facility and entrusted the establishment of a Bioprocess laboratory to cater for the need of biopharmaceutical research.
